Long cherished desire of the people of the northern region of the state was fulfilled with the establishment of the College of Teacher Education, Kumarghat in the year 2015. Foundation stone of the college was laid on 11 October, 2011 ( ) by the then Hon'ble Minster of Higher Education Sri Anil Sarkar and after that magnificent buildings were constructed to commence B.Ed ( ) programme in the college. NCTE recognition was obtained in the month of May, 2015 after the appointment of regular faculty members and then first batch of 100 students was admitted and the college began its journey on the 24th July, 2015 when the college was inaugurated by the Hon'ble Chief Minister Sri Manik Sarkar in presence of The Hon'ble Minister of Education Sri Tapan Chakraborty, and thousands of enthusiastic people of the locality and other notable dignitaries
