SRET - Sri Rengaswamy Educational Trust, Komarapalayam is a charitable trust established in the year 2001 with an aim to foster higher education for all and to provide excellent professional education in rural India to uplift the downtrodden communities.

Prof. Dr. A. K. Natesan is the founder and Hon.Chairman of SRET. He is an MBA from NIT, Trichy and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in financial management from PSG College of Arts & Science. He is the Secretary of Association of Coimbatore Anna University Affiliated Self Financing Engineering Colleges and Chairman of ISTE - Tamilnadu and Pondicherry Section.

His son, Dr. N. Mathan Karthick is the Vice-Chairman and Mrs. Parvathy Natesan is the Managing Trustee.Initially the Trust started “Child Labour Eradication Schools” in six centres in Namakkal District where many children under the age of 14 were working in power loom and other industries foregoing their right to education. This program was supported by Government of Tamilnadu and Government of India.

Educational Guidance and Exhibition (EDGE) was organized by SRET in Salem, Erode, Trichy and Dharmapuri every year since 2003. Over 100 approved Educational Institutions and higher education consulting bodies participated in these exhibitions and guided over 10000 students and parents in each centre under one umbrella. Nationalized banks offered voluntary service to the parents for obtaining educational loans in these Exhibitions.

Master of Education (M.Ed.), Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) and D.T.Ed Colleges were started in 2006. It has started its brand “Excel Group Institutions” at Pallakapalayam, Namakkal District in the year 2007. These magnificent institutions are located in sprawling area of over 100 acres besides National Highway (NH47), between Salem and Coimbatore.

Infrastructural extravaganza (over 9,00,000 sq.ft built up area) with architectural taste, high speeding growth in number of students, faculty and other instructional facilities has earned the “Fastest Growing Engineering College of Tamil Nadu” award from Brands Academy, New Delhi.

ISTE has honoured Mr.Velmurugan of Excel Engineering College with the Best Student Award for the year 2010; Dr.Devakumar has been honoured with the Best Teacher Award for the year 2011 and Excel Engineering College has been honoured with the Best Student Chapter Award sharing this coveted award with VIT for the year 2012.

Presently, three Engineering Colleges, one Business School, one B.Arch College, one Polytechnic College and two Colleges of Education are running excellently in single campus, sponsored by Sri Rengaswamy Educational Trust.
