Desh Bhagat University (D.B.U.), Mandi Gobindgarh is a State Private University established under Punjab Government Desh Bhagat University Act, 2012. It has evolved from Desh Bhagat Group of Institutes, which was established in 1996 near Mandi Gobindgarh, a well-known industrial town of Punjab. It is named Desh Bhagat, in the memory and honour of freedom fighter Sardar Lal Singh Ji who fought for the independence of India. In 1972 his efforts of social work and his services in the freedom struggle were recognized by awarding him with Tamra Patra by Government of India.
