College of Teacher Education was established in the year 2006 at ilyas Ashraf Nagar, Chandanpatti, Laheriasarai, Darbhanga, Bihar. In view of vast majority of Urdu speaking population inview MANUU found the necessity to establish MANUU off-campus at this place which had been the oldest seat of learning. Darbhanga is widely known for its literary and academic heritage with two Universities, one Medical College, many dental colleges and only one Teacher Training College which runs M.Ed. Course. To cater to the needs of the vast Urdu speaking majority MANUU, College of Teacher Education has been established to train young boys and girls through Urdu medium to disseminate knowledge through Urdu language. MANUU, CTE has been recognized by the NCTE, ERC, Bhubaneswar with the intake of 100 students in the year 2007 and first batch of the CTE could get through in the final examination with flying colors. It is a matter of our great pleasure that almost all the students who passed in the year 2007-08, 2008-09, 2009-10, 2010-11, 2011-12 got their employment in different institutions of public and private sectors. CTE, Darbhanga being the first institution of the University has already completed 7 years and its six batches have already been passed out. Since there is no M.Ed. course in this region except one in a private institution with a limited seats for the elite of the society. By starting M.Ed. course in MANUU, CTE, Dargbhanga will definitely provide opportunity to the talented lot of the society for their admission in M.Ed.
