Shaheed Udham Singh was a great patriot who laid down his life at the alter of freedom of his mother land. His heroic will certainly influence a spirit of sacrifice in our coming generation in order to pressure freedom, however, integrity and dignity of our nation. He avenged the Jallianwala Bagh massacre after twenty one year of a long chase of Sir Michel O’ Dwyer (the ten lieutenant Governor of Punjab), whom he shot dead in the Caxton Hall, Contemporary freedom fighter Lala Lajpat rai, Sardar Ajit Singh and Sardar Bhagat Singh. After four years imprisonment at Amritsar from 1928 to 1932, he reached, London through Germany and joined training course just to hoodwink his activities in trace of the culprit, General O’ Dwyer. After shooting him, the brave Kamboj hero made no attempts to escape from the hall. He was sentenced to death. He kissed gallows smilingly and was hanged on 31 st July 1940 in the Pantone a Villa Jail, London. May the Almighty God give us all the strength to follow in his footstep and spread his spirit of sacrifice and love for the Nation in the coming generation. That’s why; we have chosen his name for Society, School and College.
