After Independence the people of Assam were lagging behind in respect of health sector. There were no facilities in order to study Medical science, Nursing in diploma/degree level in the state of Assam. However, after a few years of Independence, a few Medical Colleges at Dibrugarh and Guwahati were established. Side by side a few Nursing Schools were opened in the Govt. level therein only for a few students.
Now, the people of Assam particularly from North-Eastern Region have felt necessity for their children to growth studies of Medical Science/Nursing profession for want which the students of North east Region have been suffering much. In order to meet up the thrash of the students of North-East a trust by name of NEPNI was established and registered in the year 2005 at Hatigaon Main Road Guwahati – 6. Due to some technical difficulties and unavoidable circumstances, the school of Nursing has been starting in the year 2007-2008. A few intake of students were admitted in to the 3&1/2 years GNM Courses after obtaining approval of INC New Delhi and state Govt. permission/NOC.
