National Institute of Design, India's head and first structure organization has been announced 'Foundation of National Importance' by the Act of Parliament, by temperance of the National Institute of Design Act. 

Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, Hon'ble Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Hon'ble Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs set the NID Bill in the Parliament. 

The Bill states, 'To pronounce the foundation known as the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, to be an organization of national significance for the advancement of value and greatness in instruction, research and preparing in all orders identifying with Design… ', was passed collectively by the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, 09th July 2014. Prior on Monday, July seventh the Bill was consistently passed by Rajya Sabha. 

This is the primary Bill to be passed by the recently chose NDA government and was prepared in a limited capacity to focus three days, in both the Houses. 

On the seventeenth July 2014 Hon'ble President of India gave his consent to the National Institute of Design Bill, 2014 and notice to proclaim NID as an 'Organization of National Importance' was distributed in Government of India's Gazette on eighteenth July, 2014. 

During dialogs, in the two Houses, Hon'ble individuals talked profoundly of the exercises of the establishment and collectively consented to pass the Bill. With the death of this Bill, NID will be approved to convey degrees and offer Ph.Ds. Till date, forty establishments have been announced as Institutions of National Importance, NID being the forty-first.
