Gandharva Mahavidyalaya New Delhi is a foundation set up in 1939 to promote Indian old style music and move. The Mahavidyalaya (school) appeared to sustain the memory of Pandit Vishnu Digambar Paluskar, the incredible reviver of Hindustani traditional music, and to keep up the standards set somewhere near him. The first Gandharva Mahavidyalaya was set up by him on 5 May 1901 at Lahore. The New Delhi school pursues the prospectuses set by the Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal. Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, New Delhi was built up in 1939 by Pandit Vinay Chandra Maudgalya, devotee of Pandit Vinayakrao Patwardhan, an example from Gwalior Gharana. Today it is the most seasoned music school in Delhi and is going by his child and a prominent Hindustani traditional artist, Pandit Madhup Mudgal.
