This Institute was begun in 1972 as an enlisted Society under the Andhra Pradesh (Telangana Area) Public Societies Act, 1350 Fasli (Act I of 1350F) in the name and style "Sustenance Craft Institute (Hyderabad) Society", Hyderabad. The administration of India, Department of Tourism, New Delhi have updated this Institute in 1984 by presenting a 3 Year Diploma in Hotel Management and Catering Technology. Ensuing on up degree, the name of the Institute has been changed from "Nourishment Craft Institute" to "Establishment of Hotel Management Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition". 

This Institute is working under the scholarly control of National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology, Noida, an Apex Body set up by the Department of Tourism, Government of India. Before the up degree, just Craft Certificate Courses of a half year/One Year length were led in the exchanges – Cookery, Bakery and Confectionery, Canning and Food Preservation, Restaurant and Counter Service, Hotel Reception and Book-keeping and House-Keeping including a Postgraduate Diploma Course in Tourism and Travel. 

The assessment for these courses were then led by the State Board of Technical Education and Training, Government of Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad and Certificates granted by them. Presently the assessments for by and by run courses are being led on all India premise by the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology, Noida and the endorsements are granted by the Council straightforwardly. From the Academic Year 2002-03, the 3-Year Diploma in Hotel Management and Catering Technology was changed over into 3-Year Bachelor of Science Program in Hospitality and Hotel Administration (B.Sc. – HHA) and the testaments for the graduating understudies are being granted by the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi, in 2006-07. To make employable abilities among the jobless youth, 'Hunar Se Rozgar' program under Capacity Building for Service Providers supported by Government of India, Ministry of Tourism (HRD), is being directed at this Institute offering four courses: (a)Food Production – two months ; (b)Food and Beverage Service – a month and a half; (c) House-Keeping – a month and a half and (d) Bakery – two months . A stipend of Rs.2000/for about two months courses and Rs.1500/ - for about a month and a half courses is being paid on accomplishing the participation of 90%. Arrangement help is additionally given to the contender to get work in different associations.
