The seeds of Andhra Mahila Sabha were planted in 1937 at Madras (by and by Chennai) as 'Little Ladies of Brindavan' to connect with the kids by showing them tunes, moves and stories. The sower was Smt.Durgabai, the political dissident and supporter of Gandhiji. Before long the inside began to draw in the moms of the kids. Durgabai being a devotee of Women's Empowerment in those days renamed it as Andhra Mahila Sabha to meet social, social and instructive needs of ladies. 

The adage of Andhra Mahila Sabha from the earliest starting point was to 'instruct and train ladies and outfit their administrations in the undertaking of Nation Building'. To accomplish this objective the means taken by Durgabai helped in spreading the exercises of AMS in various ways. With the expansion of its exercises the requirement for systematizing the exercises was felt. So AMS was enrolled under Indian Societies Registration Act of 1860 on 23rd June, 1948 as a general public at Chennai. So as to secure its properties a Trust was enrolled on eighteenth October, 1948. 

"Through steady development and honesty, AMS must turn into a people's development. With their association, it must arrive at each lady, youngster and senior resident who needs care, sympathy, guiding, medication, nourishment, legitimate guide and professional preparing" was the point of Durgabai. 

In 1946 Gandhiji favored the plaque for the initiation of Mallamma Devi Mahila Mandiram and the establishment stone for the development of Chinnamamba Vidya Mandiram. 

In its long voyage of more than 75 years Andhra Mahila Sabha has spread its wings in the regions of instruction, social insurance, welfare of the diversely abled and the senior natives. At present in excess of two dozen of organs of Andhra Mahila Sabha are working in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Durgabai's point was to give to the poor from support to the last venture.
