National Informatics Center (NIC) was set up in 1976, and has since risen as a "prime developer" of e-Government/e-Governance applications up to the grassroots level just as an advertiser of advanced open doors for maintainable improvement. NIC, through its ICT Network, "NICNET", has institutional linkages with every one of the Ministries/Departments of the Central Government, 36 State Governments/Union Territories, and around 708 District Administrations of India.
