Ali Yavar Jung National Institute of Speech and Hearing Disabilities (Divyangjan) (AYJNISHD(D)) was set up on ninth August 1983. It is a self-ruling association under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), Government of India, New Delhi. The Institute is situated at Bandra (West), Mumbai – 400 050. 

Territorial Centers of the Institute have been built up at Kolkata (1984), New Delhi (1986), Secundarabad (1986) and Bhubaneshwar (1986-in relationship with Government of Orissa). These are focuses planned for gathering the neighborhood and territorial needs as far as labor improvement and administrations. Provincial Center at New Delhi has been moved to Noida in 2015.and Regional focus at Bhubaneswar has been moved to Janla in 2008. 

The District Disability Rehabilitation Center (DDRCs) under Gramin Punarvasan Yojana (GPY) a program of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India was begun in the year 2000. The target of the program is to furnish all out restoration to people with tangible (hearing and vision), physical and mental incapacities. 

Under this program, 24 DDRCs were distributed to AYJNISHD(D). All the 24 DDRCs, on fulfillment of fruitful foundation and running for a long time, are given over to State Governments/District Administration/NGO. 

Composite Regional Center (CRC), Bhopal is an administration model started by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India, set up on fourteenth August, 2000. The Center is working under the authoritative control of AYJNISHD(D) since February, 2006. One more CRC at Ahmedabad, Gujarat was built up on sixteenth Aug, 2011 and this CRC additionally working under the regulatory control of AYJNISHD(D).
