Urumu Seshachalam Chettiar, the venerated Founder of our College, is a respectable man. He has granted his property to poor youngsters. 

He began a shelter for poor kids and his administration for the individuals is profoundly excellent. His halfway house was gradually formed into a Middle College which started to work from 1946. Later on, the Middle College developed into High College from 1951. The Founder was altruistic, considerate caring. Mrs. Urumu Dhanalakshmi Ammal helped her significant other in the entirety of his undertakings. Consequently the College bears her name. 

We are commending our Founder's Day consistently on seventeenth November in memory of our cherished Founder. 

Our Founder comprised a board to take care of each one of those properties that have a place with instructive organizations. Our Collge is a piece of Bharathidasan University. On a propitious day on which the Kumbabisheka of Akilandeswari Temple was held, our College was opened by Jagathguru Sri shankaracharya Jeyandra Swamigal. 

Our College found away from the town in the midst of country environment, fulfills the necessities of the destitute individuals of Thiruverambur and Kattur Villages. Our College worked in S.I.T premises for the initial two years, 1970-72. During the third year, it started to work in its own structures in at Kattur. This College which began with Pre-University course had presented B.A. (Financial matters) during the subsequent year. 

In 1975, B.Com., and B.Sc., (Maths and Chemistry) classes were presented. In 1979, B.Sc. (Material science) was presented. Our Colledge is having M.A.(Economics) from 1980-81, M.com.from 1981-82,part-time M.Phil. in Economics from 1982-83,Full-time M.Phil. in Economics from 1985-86 and M.Sc. Connected Physics (Computer Electronics) from 1986-87.
