Women's Polytechnic was set up as the principal Institute of its sort for elevating specialized instruction to the ladies of Tripura. Women's Polytechnic was built up in the year 2003 with the spearheading part of Information Technology (IT), approaved by AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) and associated to WBSCTE (West Bengal State Council of Technical Education), Kolkata, in the premises of Polytechnic Institute (presently Tripura Institute of Technology), Narsingarh, Agartala, Tripura(West). In 2004, two extra new branches, specifically, Medical Lab Technology (MLT) and Fashion Technology (FT) were consolidated. The Institute in its new grounds has been officially initiated by the Hon'ble Chief Ministerof Tripura, Shri Manik Sarkar, on the 29th of January, 2007.At present the school is associated to the Tripura University (A Central University) and offers four courses with an admission limit of a hundred understudies for each year. 

Women's Polytechnic is situated at a separation of about 1(one) km from Amtali Bazar towards the west. It is about 9(nine) km roughly a long way from the capital city Agartala. It is a semi urban region. The organization is spread over a zone of 8(eight) section of land, encompassed by green belt.
