Maharajadhiraj Bejoy Chand Institute of Engineering and Technology , formally known as M.B.C. Foundation of Engineering and Technology, is a Diploma Level Polytechnic of Government of West Bengal endorsed by All India Council of Technical Education ( AICTE ), New Delhi and associated to West Bengal State Council of Technical and Vocational Education and Skill Development ( WBSCT&VE&SD ). The Institute is offering 3—years Diploma Courses in four Branches in Engineering, two Vocational Courses in 10+2 professional level H.S. also, different transient courses under CDTP Scheme.
This Institution was set up in the year 1893, in the period of April as 'Area BOARD OF TECHNICAL SCHOOL OF BURDWAN" under the managerial control of the then District Board. Following a couple of years ,the school was moved and housed in a structure at B.C.Road, before Sadar Thana, Burdwan and named as Maharajadhiraj Bejoy Chand Technical School". Upto 1949 this Institute offered diverse Technical Training Scheme including Sub-Overseer courses. In 1949, Education Department of the Government of West Bengal perceived this Institute as one of the three supported Polytechnics in West Bengal for instructing Diploma courses in Engineering.
Under the caring support of Maharajadhiraj Bahadur of Burdwan, this Institute was again moved in December, 1950 to its present premises named as "M.B.C.Institute of Engineering and Technology, Burdwan" in the past this premises known as "De-Burgh House" talented by Maharajadhiraj Bahadur of Burdwan for setting up Technical School .
