St. Joseph's College, Jakhama is a Catholic organization of higher learning built up and overseen by the Diocese of Kohima, Nagaland. It is the primary school set up by the Catholic Church in Nagaland. It targets giving quality advanced education that depends on the Christian vision of life. The College was initiated on nineteenth March 1985 at the Loyola School Campus, Jakhama, under the organization of the general public of Jesus, with Pre-University Courses in Arts (counting a Vocational Course) and Commerce. It was associated toward the North Eastern Hill University, Shillong, around the same time. The College is currently situated in an extensive grounds in Jakhama town, around 14 kms from Kohima, along the National Highway 2. Degree Courses in Arts (Bachelor of Arts) and in Commerce (Bachelor of Commerce) were begun in 1988. BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration) and B.Sc. (Four year certification in scientific studies) were begun in 2009 and 2012 individually. The school additionally presented Post Graduation(M.A) Course in 2018 with English office as the first PG Course. With the foundation of a University inside the State of Nagaland in July 1994, the College is currently associated to the Nagaland University. It is incorporated into the List of Colleges under Section 2 (f) and 12 (B) of the UGC Act, 1956 and has been Re-certify by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with the A Grade (CGPA 3.12). The administration of the College is vested with the St. Joseph's College Society of the Diocese of Kohima. Other than the Diocesan Fathers who are responsible for the organization of the College, there are Religious sisters having a place with the Sisters of the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament (SABS), and Congregation of Mother Carmel (CMC), and Apostolic Carmel (AC) as individuals
