Govt. Girls College, Katni, was built up in 1967 as a private College by Katni Shiksha Parishad. Govt. Young ladies College was taken over by the Government of Madhya Pradesh on 1 October 1982. The College is subsidiary to Rani Durgawati University, Jabalpur. 

Sports and Library offices are accessible to the understudies. In 2001-2002 M.A. in Sociology and B.Com First Year were begun by Janbhagidari Samiti under oneself financing plan.
