St. Aloysius College was established in 1951 and is arranged in the Jabalpur Cantonment territory. It is a Christian College possessed and set up by the Catholic Diocese of Jabalpur, which has a place with the minority network of Catholics and is controlled by the said Diocese through the St. Aloysius College Society. The College is named after St. Aloysius Gonzaga, the Patron Saint of the College, who harbored a deep longing to serve God and his fellowmen. 

Drawing motivation from the life and lessons of Jesus Christ, who came into this world that we may have life and life in bounty (Jn. 10:10) and that we may figure out how to live as offspring of one cherishing Father, the Foundation Society made a pitiful start by beginning St. Aloysius College in 1951, in a little room of the College working with just ten understudies and Rev. Fr. H.van Englen O'Praem as its Founder Principal. After a year, the English Medium classes in Arts and Science started as the College was partnered to the Saugor University. In 1953, the Arts Faculty was gave Degree Status and the Science Faculty in 1956. This was the aftereffect of the eager endeavoring of Fr. H. van. Engelen, the then Principal.

In 1993, Dr. Fr. Davis George assumed responsibility as the Principal. In 1994, the Electronics Lab and Multi-rec center were set up and the Computer Laboratory remodeled. An achievement was accomplished in 1994, as the College was picked, among the not many in the nation, to run three Vocational Courses, viz. Electronic Equipment Maintenance, Communicative English and Functional Hindi.
