The Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana (S.N.D.P) Yogam in 1946 made plans to build up a school at Kollam in regard to the extraordinary holy person, savant and social reformer Sree Narayana Guru, to give better higher instructive offices, essentially for the regressive classes of Kerala. The goals materialized when the Sree Narayana College was opened in 1948 as a blended school. To satisfy the expanding need for seats, it was chosen to begin a different school for ladies. The Sree Narayana College for Women started to work in a similar structure in September 1951 with alliance to the University of Kerala, in the wake of moving the previously existing College to a different structure which keeps on working as Sree Narayana College, Kollam. Sree Narayana College for Women remains as a glad and triumphant image of a renascent and dynamic culture introduced by the otherworldly brightness and vision of the incomparable Guru. 

The school had an unobtrusive start with a couple of courses at the middle of the road and undergrad levels. More courses were presented later. The school was raised to the status of a Postgraduate organization in 1964 with the presentation of M.Sc. course in Home Science. The Department of Chemistry was raised to the status of a Research Department in 2008 and at present 10 Research Scholars work under two Research Guides.Now the school is one of the main focuses of learning in the field of advanced education in Kerala with 14 training divisions offering different courses at the Degree and Post-graduate levels for more than 2500 understudies. This renowned foundation has an incredible custom of creating praiseworthy understudies from its very beginning. All as the years progressed, the educator network and the understudy network of the school have contributed the block and instrument towards the way toward embellishment a dynamic scholarly people, free from standing and collective partialities and social taboos.
