Karmela Rani Training College was established in 1960 by His Lordship the late Rt. Rev. Dr. Jerome M. Fernandez, the then Bishop of Quilon. 

Religious administrator Jerome was conceived on September 8, 1901 at Koivila in Kollam locale. In 1915, he joined St. Raphael's Minor theological school for the clerical investigations to turn into a minister. He was appointed minister on March 24, 1928. He showed Latin and Theology at St. Theresa's Major Seminary, Kollam, which is at present Fatima Mata National College. 

In 1937, at 36 years old, he turned into the primary Indian Bishop of Quilon which is the main Diocese in the entire of Asia. During the residency as Bishop from 1937 to 1978, he set up various schools, universities and other instructive organizations including Fatima Mata National College and Karmela Rani Training College. Priest Jerome was an incredible protector of the privileges of minorities particularly in the field of training. Having resigned as Bishop of Quilon in 1978, he left for his glorious home February 26, 1992. May his spirit rest in harmony.
