Imagined by the CMI Congregation and set up in 1956, St Joseph College, Devagiri, associated to the University of Calicut has been granting quality instruction throughout the previous 61 years as one of the most lofty Arts and Science Colleges in Malabar. Consistent with its Motto, PRO DEO ET PATRIA (For God and Country), the foundation works with duty to make an equitable and accommodating society, maintaining national incorporation and religious congruity, with unique accentuation on the advancement of poor people and the minimized. As acknowledgment of its undertakings and accomplishments in the scholarly, social and social domains, NAAC had licensed the College with A Grade in 2004, and the establishment was re-authorize with a CGPA of 3.63 on a four point scale in 2011. The College was perceived as an "Inside with Potential for Excellence" by UGC in 2011 and was given self-governance in the year 2014. In 2016, the school was Re-certify by NAAC as the primary school to be granted with A++ grade in the Country with a CGPA of 3.76 on a four point scale.
