Padmachandra College of Nursing (Deemed to be University), positioned among the top wellbeing sciences colleges in India, had its beginning as Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research which was set up by Sri Ramachandra Educational and Health Trust in the year 1985 as a private not-revenue driven self-financing organization and devoted to serve the general public as a focal point of perfection with accentuation on therapeutic instruction, research and human services. The Trust accomplished the errand of building up the Institution as a "Focal point of Excellence" under the administration of Late Shri. N.P.V.Ramasamy Udayar who was the Founder and Managing Trustee of the Trust and furthermore the main Chancellor of the Deemed to be University. Shri. V.R. Venkataachalam is right now the Chancellor of the Deemed to be University and is likewise the Managing Trustee of the Trust. In perspective on its scholastic brilliance, the Government of India proclaimed Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research as a Deemed to be University in September, 1994 under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956. As required by the UGC, a different and devoted Trust, "Sri Ramachandra University Trust" was made in 2012 to run the Deemed to be University, completely following the UGC standards. More than three decades, the organization has changed into an undeniable Deemed to be University with nine Constituent Colleges/Faculties – Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research and Colleges of Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Allied Health Sciences, Management, Biomedical Sciences, Technology and Research and Public Health offering 104 U.G. furthermore, P.G. courses in human services sciences, with a staff quality of 836, with 6501 understudies accepting educating getting the hang of preparing under them,(Faculty: Student proportion 1:8) during the scholastic year 2017-18.
