S.B.R. College Started as Arts College and in 1948 legitimate instruction was presented in the College as workforce college was built up by Mahakaushal Education society (M.E.S.) and it was controlled by the said society. To make lawful instruction at standard with other expert training, in 1968 the said workforce was changed to law college. With approach of law college legitimate instruction got a major lift. This college was named as M.E.S. Law College as it was administered by M.E.S. Society and last the name was changes as Kaushalendra Rao Law College. In its incipient stage it was low maintenance evening College.
Around 1968 S.B.R. (Expressions) college was taken over by the Government and college moved to new premises in Jarahabhata. Presently Only Law College was left in the old premises. Because of money related troubles college was runon leased premises till 1983. Eminent backer Shri M.S.D. Sharma was selected as first privileged Principal who proceeded till his demise in 1991. After his demise senior and well known supporter Shri J.K.Shrivastava took over as Principal in 1998 Part time course was made full time and classes were directed during day time.
Shri Ashok Rao prestigious native of Bilaspur gave land to College on which the college developed its very own structure and it was named as Kaushalendra Rao Law College to respect Late. Kaushalendra Rao who was an Ex Judge High Court of Nagpur. Kaushalendra Rao Law College is contributing jumps and limits in field of legitimate instruction in Bilaspur.
