Dumkal College was supported on twenty-first Sep, 1999 once the review of University of Kalyani (vide memoranda No. RPS/Aff.College/110/117/99 dated twenty fourth Gregorian calendar month 1999) and by UGC (vide memoranda No. F.8-171/2000 (CPP.1) dated eleventh July 2002) beneath section 2(1) twelve (B) of the UGC Act 1956- inclusion of recent College and this faculty has received the permission for continued its courses beneath bachelor degree as Non-Govt./ Govt. assisted College and therefore it's related to the University of Kalyani since its origin. 

The college starts its functioning with some of the scholars initiating their categories in B.T. high college, Dumkal. However, today’s image is one in all complete transformations. it's a co-education College and it's the sole establishment inside the neighborhood that ran from the terribly starting with all 3 streams-Arts, Science and Commerce.
