Dr. Shashi Bhushan Institute of Education that was at the start referred to as Hailakandi B.Ed. College was established within the year 1996. Prof. J.B. Bhattacharjee, first Vice-Chancellor of state University Silchar inaugurated the College on fifteenth July/1996 in presence of by Sri Sahidul Alom Choudhury, the then P. & R.D. Minister, Govt. of Assam. The Thrust for the formation of the College was the zeal to figure for the betterment of the society through the coaching of academics for skilled preparation moreover as through numerous welfare activities. Trust within the name and elegance as 'Foundation for Education and financial aid Hailakandi, Assam' was fashioned to run and manage the College moreover on do welfare activities.
