The University was officially initiated on twentieth March 1965 by Late Shri. Lal Bahadur Shastri, the then Hon'ble Prime Minister of India. Another critical achievement was the introduction of the structure program of the college by Late Smt. Indira Gandhi,the then Hon'ble Prime Minister of India on 23rd June 1966. The University was renamed as Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University on seventh November 1996 in respect and memory of an exceptional parliamentarian Acharya Nayukulu Gogineni Ranga, who rendered striking caring administration for the reason for ranchers and is viewed as an extraordinary educationist, kisan pioneer and opportunity warrior. The significance of the utilization of Science and Technology for Agricultural improvement was acknowledged as ahead of schedule as in the start of century.
