Located in an arid region B L J S justifies its tagline Oasis in Dessert. From the time of its establishment the college has fought a long and arduous battle against Nature and great scarcity of water resources to bloom into an Oasis where lush green lawns adorn it and more than 1500 trees swing and sway to crown its beauty.
Apart from the routine teaching and learning processes the college is a hub of a large number of student-centric activities opening a large vista of opportunities to widen their mental, social and imaginative as well as ethical potentials .
The College has two platoons of N.C.C. cadets who are performing their duties effectively according to their scheduled programmes. Many students through these wings have passed their B & C certificate examinations and now serving the country as Majors, Captains and in other capacities in Indian Army.
The NSS unit of the college is also an asset to the college. Through this unit many social work camps are organized in different places of this region. Through different “Chetna Rallies” and attempt is made to make the the general public aware about social evils and eradicate them from the society.
“Aprajita” the Women Cell and “Asmita” the cultural cell of the college guide the students in their all round development and expose the creative instinct of the students. Counseling of girl students and their personality development programmes are initiated by the Women Cell. The college cultural cell “Asmita” has made its presence felt in cultural activities not only at University but also at National level. The students groomed by cultural cell demonstrate their excellence in drama, dance, literary activities, fine arts and music. The actors and singers from this college have been making their mark on national scenario since its inception.
Our college is the only college from Bhiwani Zone which has been winning Ist prize in National Youth Festivals organized by Ministry of Youth Affairs, Govt. of India & Association of Indian Universities for the last five years.
The Guidance and Counseling Bureau in the college is doing its best by helping the students in their placements in prestigious organizations. Health Care Centre, Legal Literacy Cell and Red Ribbon Club are also functioning effectively. Anti-AIDS campaigns are being regularly launched by Red Ribbon Club. Grievances Redressal Cell of the college regularly helps students in times of distress.
Different subject societies and cells are also working in the college for overall development of the students. There is “Nirala Parishad” in Hindi, “Kalidas Society” in Sanskrit “Planning Forum” in Economics. Apart from this, “Social Science Society”, “Psychology Society”, “Geography Society”, Commerce Society are also in function to bring out the best hidden talent of the students. College magazine “Sumegha” is regularly being published every year in the month of June since 1998. This magazine works as a platform to bring out the creative writing skills of the young minds of the college. An anti-ragging squad is also working in the college to prevent the happening of such events from college campus. The college is a NO SMOKING zone.We have been conducting the GREEN AUDIT of our campus.
As per the recommendations of NAAC an International Quality Assessment Cell (IQAC) is also working in the college. This IQAC cell is in function since 2003. Apart from this a Quality Advisory Committee (QAC) was constituted in 2003 and it has been operating effectively.
Keeping in view the limited resources of the college a Centre for Innovation, Research & Development (CIRD) is also in function. We are following NAAC guidelines for Accreditation(cycle-two) as per new methodology.
The college organizes Seminars, Group Discussions, Workshops on regular basis. Month-wise calendar is being prepared and implemented for educational, cultural and co-curricular activities every year. According to the calendar extension lectures and other activities are being organized for the benefit of the students. Drama, Music and training camps and workshops are being organized on regular basis. Study and Adventure Tours are organized regularly. There is a provision for the Industrial Trips also. The college has cordial relations with different constituents of the society.
For poor and meritorious students there is a provision for fee concession. Scholarships and stipends are given to the SC/BC/ Physically handicapped and dependents of freedom-fighters. BLJS Trust cash awards are given to the students showing excellence in the fields of academic, cultural activities and sports. Book-Bank Facility is provided to the poor and deserving students. Various activities are being organized for the students under R.K. Fund and Red Cross Society. Special classes are being held for weak as well as promising students.
