Nari Shiksha Niketan P.G. College is a part of Nari Sewa Samiti, a very well known institution of Lucknow devoted to the development and empowerment of women. On July 16th 1963, Nari Shiksha Niketan Degree College, affiliated to the University of Lucknow, was established, with Smt. Swaroop Kumari Bakshi as its first Principal. Later, the stewardship was handed over to Dr. Asha Gupta who was the Principal from 1980-2001 . In a short span of time the College grew into an academic institution of repute.At the time when the Degree College was established only two other women’s colleges of Lucknow offered Science courses. Over the years the number of applicants for admission to B.Sc. increased rapidly. To cater to the needs of the growing demand in the Science faculty an independent Science block was constructed and inaugurated on 8th November, 1970. In 1994, M.A. classes in Hindi were started. With this the stature of the college grew to the post- graduate level. Then in the year 2000 a new faculty of Commerce was set-up under the self-financing scheme of the University. Today there are 3 faculties of Arts, Commerce, and Science with total strength of 2327 students. The college was granted the IEQA Status in July 2008 and subsequently awarded Grade ‘B’ by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council of India in September 2009.
