The Baliapal College of Physical Education, a co-educational institution was established in the year 1981, located at Baliapal, one of the most populated areas of Balasore district of Orissa State. The main purpose of establishing this institute was to up - grade the status of physical education by offering degree and post-graduate professional courses. The Bachelor's degree programme of one year duration (B.P.Ed.) was started in 1981, and Master's Degree course (M.P.Ed.)was introduced in 1987. The Institute started as an affiliated college of the Utkal University, Bhubaneswar and then came to the fold of Fakir Mohan University, Balasore, in 1999. Presently the college offers a Two year Bachelor's degree programme (B.P.Ed.) with 60 intake, a Two years Master’s programme (M.P.Ed.) with 30 intake and Two years Certificate in Physical Education (C.P.Ed) with 50 intake (Recognized by NCTE, Govt. of Odisha and affiliated to F.M. University ,Balasore, Odisha under 2(f) of U.G.C. New Delhi & Board of Secondary Education, Odisha Cuttack)OBJECTIVE OF THE INSTITUTE To prepare highly qualified leaders in the field of Physical Education and Sports,To serve as a Centre of Excellence and innovation in Physical Education and to undertake, promote and disseminate research in this field, To provide vocational guidance and placement services to the professionals in this field, To promote mass participation in Physical Education and Sports, To develop and promote programmes of Physical Education and Sports in the country.
