Eligibility
- Master’s degree in Law with at least 55% marks.
- Candidates from SC/ST/OBC category will get a relaxation of 5% in eligibility criteria.
- Candidates are also eligible to apply who are appearing in the final year of the qualifying examination.
Selection Process
- Admission will be given on the base of the entrance tests and personal interviews.
- Candidates will be exempted from appearing in the All India Entrance Test (AIET) who have qualified UGC-NET/ JRF but will have to submit the research proposal and shall appear for the Personal Interview.
- The entrance test will test the abilities of the candidates in the fields of Subject Knowledge and Research Methodology. The type of questions will be short-answer type, essay type as well as multiple-choice questions.
- The candidates will be called for a presentation of the research proposals who are short-listed on the basis of the entrance test.
- Admission will be given to the availability of vacancies.
Syllabus for All India Entrance Test (AIET)
- AIET will have 25 MCQ with each have 1 mark and there are 5 five short descriptive questions each has 5 (Five) marks. The total number of short descriptive questions is 10 (Ten). Candidate has to write an essay on any two topics in about a maximum of 1000 (one thousand) words of his / her area of interest. The Examination shall be of three hours’ duration.
- The multiple-choice questions shall be from the core areas of law, legal and logical reasoning
- The short descriptive questions and essay type questions shall be from Human Rights Law, Environmental Law, Constitutional Law, International Law, Contract Law, Jurisprudence, Personal Laws, Criminal Law, Corporate Law, and Intellectual Property Law.
- Candidates of sciences, social sciences, and humanities will get special care.
Categories of Enrolment
Full-time Enrolment
- Duration for full time will be minimum duration will be three years, including course work during which the candidate is required to stay at the university for a minimum period of 12 months.
- The candidate shall complete the research work and submit it for evaluation for a maximum of six years.
Part-time Enrolment
- Duration for full time will be minimum duration will be four years, including course work including time spent for research at any other place with the permission of the Supervisor.
- The candidate shall complete the research work and submit it for evaluation for a maximum of six years.
Fee Structure

- Registration Fee (at the time of admission): Rs. 15,000/-
- Course Work Fee (at the time of admission): Rs. 25,000/-
- Annual Fee (every year): Rs. 10,000/-
- Library fee (annual): Rs. 6,000/-
- Library Caution Money (refundable): Rs. 10,000/-
- Hostel Caution Money (refundable): Rs. 10,000/-
- Internet/ Electronic Database (annual): Rs. 6,000/-
- Fee for Change of Area of Research: Rs. 5,000/-
- Fee for pre-submission of the thesis.: Rs. 10,000/-
- Fee for final presentation: Rs. 20,000/-

- Re-examination Fee (at the time of submission of Thesis): Rs. 15,000/-

How to fill Application Form
Candidate has to download the application form from the official website of the university and submit it with Demand Draft for Rs.2,000/- (for Indian Nationals) and Rs.4,000/- (for Foreign Nationals) and demand draft should be submitted in the favor of “Registrar, Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur ” payable at Nagpur.
Applications received after the last date shall not be entertained.

Relocation of Scholar
- If a woman researcher migrates during the time of her exploration because of marriage or something else, the examination information will be permitted to be moved to the University to which the researcher plans to move, given the various conditions in these Regulations are followed in letter and soul and the examination work doesn't relate to the task made sure about by the University/Supervisor from any financing organization. The researcher will anyway give due credit to the parent Supervisor and the University for the piece of examination previously done.
- A researcher or a workforce, who has been tried out some other National Law University, might be enlisted at Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur with the endorsement of the Research Committee, if the Supervisor of such a competitor or the employee himself/herself joins Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur.
- The University where an applicant, researcher or staff, was prior enlisted assents the exchange of such up-and-comer. The Supervisor needs to give an itemized Report concerning the course work done, the satisfaction of private necessity and the advancement of examination work to the Research Committee before such an application is considered by the Committee. Correspondingly, Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur would allow movement of an applicant, researcher or a workforce, enlisted with it when the Supervisor himself/herself or assigned to him/her joins some other National Law University with the assent of such University.
