OPJS University 2019-20 Admission - Eligibility Criteria, Admission Procedure, Course Fee, Important Dates and How to Apply?

OPJS University invites application for its M.Phil. & PhD Programme (full time and part-time) in various subjects/ disciplines for the year 2019-20.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Master's degree in the concerned subject with a minimum of 55% marks or CGPA of 6.0 on a 10 point scale or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale or an equivalent degree from a foreign educational institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency.
  • A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.

Admission Procedure

  • Candidates applying for M.Phil. & PhD are required to write the entrance examination.
  • The candidate should secure 50% marks in the entrance examination to qualify for the personal interview.
  • The candidates shortlisted in the entrance examination shall be called for the personal interview. Selected candidates shall be provisionally admitted for PhD programme on verification of original certificates and payment of prescribed fee structure for PhD.
  • Candidates with UGC/CSIR(JRF)/NET/SLET/Teacher-Fellowships/MPhil/other National level eligibility test will be exempted from writing the entrance examinations.

Modes of PhD Programme:

All the PhD programmes may be offered as full time or part-time

Full-Time PhD Programme:

Candidates under full-time mode are expected to do research work in the Campus and should be available during the working hours for curricular, co-curricular and related activities.

Part-Time PhD Programme:

  • Any faculty member of the OPJS University possessing the minimum prescribed qualifications can apply in the prescribed form to work on a part-time basis for a PhD degree.
  • Employees with a minimum of five years of experience in Government, Local Bodies, recognized Institutes, Public Sector Undertakings, Non-Governmental Organizations, provided the candidate has experience in the relevant field of research for at least three continuous years out of five years of service and published, at least, two papers in standard journals or reports/monologues/ book of equivalent standard or a patent registered, in the concerned subject/area of research.
  • For part-time PhD candidates has to submit the No Objection Certificate (NOC) stating that he/she is permitted to pursue studies on a part-time basis, before submission.

Note: In case of candidates working outside the University area, a Co-guide duly recognized by the OPJS University may be permitted, if necessary, in addition to the University Guide / Supervisor on the recommendation of Doctoral Committee.

How to Apply?

Students can apply directly through online mode on the university official website. Candidates must follow the following Steps while applying online Application Form.

  • Visit University Website
  • Find the notification page
  • Click on the apply online for M.Phil & PhD Entrance Exam Button.
  • Fill all required details in the columns.
  • After that upload a passport size photo (size not more than 200kb).
  • Re-check all the details filled in the application form and then click on the submit button.
  • Now Proceed to pay the entrance cum registration through the available mode of payment.

Note:- After Successful Submission of the application form, the student must download their application form.

How to Pay M.Phil. PhD Entrance Exam Fees?

Candidates can pay fees through online mode. Complete details of payments are given below:

Online Mode

  • Deposit the requisite fee of Rs. 5,000/- (Rs. Five Thousand Only) through Net-Banking/Debit/Credit Card after Registration in OPJS University Bank Account.

M.Phil. & PhD Entrance Examination (Written Test)

The University shall conduct a Written Test, the schedule and structure of which shall be duly notified in advance.

Exemption from the Written Test

Candidates who have obtained M.Phil degree of a recognised University through regular and not distance mode ii. Candidates who have qualified at the UGC-NET (including JRF)/SLET/teacher fellowship holders.

Interview

Candidates who pass the Written Test and candidates who are exempted from the Written Test shall be required to appear for an interview to present/discuss their research proposal/area of interest.
