Qualification criteria for admission to the Ph.D. Program

Selection Criteria

About University
Netaji Subhas Open University is the head State Open University in India. The year 1997 was the birth centennial year of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. The Chief Minister of West Bengal made a declaration at a State work that an Open University would be set up soon and devoted to Netaji's blessed memory. The Higher Education Minister, Govt. of West Bengal initiated the thought after his visit to the Open University in the U.K. Under his guidance was set up a ten-part directing advisory group headed by late Dr. Bhaskar Ray Chowdhury, previous Vice-Chancellor of Kolkata University.
Following this, a State Act (W.B. Act (XIX) of 1997 and Recognized by U.G.C.) was passed on the twentieth August 1997 for opening a University for conferring Distance Education. Netaji Subhas Open University was built up by bifurcated Netaji Institute of Asian Studies (NIAS) and as far as the Act of West Bengal State Legislative Assembly and is housed in Historic structure of Sri Sarat Chandra Bose, senior sibling of Netaji.
