Selection Criteria

Course Work

About University 

Netaji Subhas Open University is the head State Open University in India. The year 1997 was the birth century year of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. The then Chief Minister of West Bengal made a declaration at a State work that an Open University would be set up soon and committed to Netaji's blessed memory. The then Higher Education Minister, Govt. of West Bengal initiated the thought after his visit to the Open University in the U.K. Under his guidance was set up a ten-part controlling board of trustees headed by late Dr. Bhaskar Ray Chowdhury, previous Vice-Chancellor of Calcutta University. Along these lines, Netaji Subhas Open University was built up through the WB Act of XIX of 1997. As of now the University has six Schools of Studies viz. School of Humanities, School of Social Sciences, School of Sciences, School of Education, School of Professional Studies and School of Vocational Studies.
