Eligibility and Minimum Marks Required

  • Candidate should have passed 10+2+UG Degree+PG Degree. 
  • Candidates shall have a Master's degree with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade
  • Master's Degree in the faculties of Arts, Commerce, Education, Sciences, Fine Arts, Languages, Management Science.
  • Master's Degree in the faculties of Technology, Law, Engineering, Architecture and Medicine including Master of Surgery (M.S. or F.R.C.S./M.R.C.S. or the Degree of Doctor of Medicine (M.D. or M.R.C.P).
  • M.B.B.S. Degree 
  • Bachelor's Degree in Siddha, Homeopathy, Veterinary Science, Ayurveda, Unani Medicines etc.
  • ACA, FCA, AICWAI, ACSI qualifications with the pass of marks, and four years of professional experience.
  • Candidates with M.Sc. Defense and Strategic Studies / M.Phil. Degree from National Defence College, New Delhi, National Defence Academy (NDA), Defence Services Staff College (DSSC) Wellington are eligible.


Relaxation of Marks

  • Candidates belong to SC/ST/Differently-Abled may get a relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50% or an equivalent relaxation of grade.
  • Candidates who had obtained their Master's degree prior to 19th September 1991 may also get a relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50% or an equivalent relaxation of grade.


Basis of Admission

  • The admission should be made purely on merit basis - 50% based on the entrance examination and 50% of marks shall be from the qualifying examination.
  • The entrance test shall carry a maximum of 50 marks. Written examination (35 marks), Oral examination (15 marks). The Syllabus of the Entrance Test shall consist of 50% of subject-specific and 50% of research methodology. The candidate should secure at least 25 marks in the entrance test out of 50 marks. Candidate belongs to SC/ST/Differently–abled category will get a relaxation of 5% of marks from 50% to 45%.
  • For which subject candidate has applied for admission, only in that subject candidate should take the examination.
  • After entrance test candidates have to appear in the interview. 


Course Work Examination and Evaluation

  • Paper I: Research and Publication Ethics (RPE) (2 credits)
  • Paper-II: Research Methodology (4 credits)
  • Paper III: An advanced paper in the subject concerned (6 credits)
  • Paper IV: Background Paper relating to the candidate?s Ph.D. work (6 credits)
