Is It Necessary to Submit an IGNOU Assignment?

It is necessary to submit IGNOU assignments to complete your course successfully. Here’s why:

1. Mandatory for Passing:

  • Assignments carry 30% weightage in your final marks.

  • Even if you score well in the term-end exams (70% weightage), you must submit assignments to pass.

2. No Assignment = No Result:

  • If you don’t submit assignments, your exam marks won’t be declared.

  • You’ll have to re-register and submit assignments in the next session.

3. Required for Practical/Project Courses:

  • Some programs (like BCA, BSW, etc.) require practical/project submissions along with assignments. Missing them means failing the course.

4. Last Date Matters:

  • IGNOU sets deadlines (usually July 31 for June TEE & March 31 for December TEE). Late submissions may not be accepted.

5. Reappearing Students Must Re-submit:

  • If you reappear for an exam, you don’t need to resubmit assignments if you already passed them earlier (unless the course has changed).

What If You Miss the Deadline?

  • You may have to wait for the next semester to submit.

  • Some regional centers accept late submissions with a fee, but it’s not guaranteed.

Final Advice:

  • Always check your assignment submission status on the IGNOU portal.

  • Keep a photocopy/postal receipt as proof of submission.

If you haven’t submitted yet, do it as soon as possible to avoid delays in your results!
