Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University was built up by an Act of the Legislature of Uttar Pradesh in 2005 (U.P. Act No.28 of 2005) which came into power on fourth of January 2006. The University got practical since July 2006. Streams for Admission

The Law Stream

The Social Science and Humanities which will include:

• Economics: Business Administration/ Management, Commerce, Development Studies.
• English: Law and Literature, Cultural Studies, Women Studies.
• History: Buddhist Studies, Women/Gender Studies, Subaltern Studies (including Tribal and Dalit Studies).
• Political Science
• Sociology: Social Inclusion and Exclusion Studies, Rural Development, Gender Studies. 

Duration of PH.D. Programme

• From the date of Admission, the minimum duration shall be three years and a maximum of six-year including course work.
• Two years in the aforesaid maximum duration may be further allowed to the Research Scholars woman or person with a disability.

Eligibility for Admission Ph.D. Degree in Law

• Candidate should have L.L.M. Degree or its equivalent Degree with at least 55% marks in the aggregate or an equivalent grade B in the UGC 7 point scale of any university recognized by the UGC.
• Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC will get a relaxation of 5 % in the aforesaid minimum of 55% marks. 
  

Eligibility requirement for admission to Ph.D. Degree in Allied Subjects

• Candidate should have a Master's Degree in any subject of the proposed research work with at least 55% marks in the aggregate or an equivalent grade B in the UGC 7 point scale of any university recognized by the UGC with a Bachelor's Degree in Law.
• Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC will get a relaxation of 5 % in the aforesaid minimum of 55% marks. 
  

Selection Process

• The duration of the Entrance Test will be one and a half hours. There will be no negative marking.
• Total marks for Written Test shall be 70 marks. 50% of the total questions will be based on the Research Methodology and 50% shall be on the main Subject Specific.
• 50% of the marks in the Written Test will be qualifying marks. SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy layer)/ Differentially Able categories will get 5% of marks (from 50% to 45%).
• The candidate shall not be called for an interview who scores marks in the Written Test below the aforesaid prescribed minimum qualifying marks.
• Language for Entrance Test shall be English.
• The Interview shall be of 30 marks.
• Interviews will be conducted by the Interview Board for Interview for admission.

Filling of Application Form

• All eligible candidates shall apply in the prescribed Application Form.
• Application Fee shall be Rs. 1000/-
• A Bank Draft of the said amount shall be attached with the Application Form drawn in favor of Dr. Ram ManoharLohiya National Law University, payable at Lucknow.

Fees and Other Charges

• Registration fee (One type Payment): Rs. 5,000.00
• Tuition fee: Rs. 30,000.00
• Utility Charges: Rs. 20,000.00
• Caution Money: Rs. 5,000.00 
• Total: Rs. 60,000.00 

General Conditions 

• The Ph.D. Program will be full time. 
• The examination researchers will be required to be available in the University during working hours and their essence will be properly recorded in the University library. This won't be under 75% of the whole working days of the University in an Academic Year. 
• Hostel offices are restricted in the University. No up-and-comer admitted to the Ph.D. 
• The program will be guaranteed the Hostel offices in the University. 
• No examination researcher enlisted for Ph.D. Degree will take up at the same time some other course of study or any all-day business; anyway, this restriction won't make a difference to the instructors of Dr. Slam Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow enlisted for Ph.D. Nonetheless, this confinement won't matter after the expiry of the time of 3 years from the date of confirmation. 
• The Research Scholar might be required to take instructing tasks and render help as might be required in the scholastic and co-curricular exercises of the University every once in a while. 
• All the Research Scholars are required to satisfy the prerequisites of the Course Work endorsed under the University Regulations Governing Admission and other related issues for the Ph.D. Degree in Law and Allied Subjects, revised every now and then. 
• The Course Work and other required work in the Ph.D. Program, including the Ph.D. postulation, will be in the English Language. 
• All the Research Scholars enlisted for the Ph.D. The program will submit to the Regulations and Rules confined by the University now and again.
