About University
Arranged on the tropic of malignant growth, at a height of 651m from ocean level in the midst of tropical vegetation, Ranchi College, Ranchi (presently updated as a Unitary State University and known as Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University, Ranchi) had been built up during the Pre-Independent India. Set up in 1926 as a Government Intermediate College, it walked ahead and started Under-Graduate and postgraduate Courses in different subjects of Arts/Science in the year 1946.
Significantly after Independence, Ranchi College kept on commending its acknowledgment as Government College. Till the making of Ranchi University, Ranchi on twelfth July, 1960, it worked as a Unit of Patna University, bestowing quality Higher Education in resources of Humanities, Science and Social Science.
Following the making of Ranchi University, Ranchi on Saturday, July twelfth, 1960, Ranchi College had been set as a Unit of Ranchi University by the then Government of Bihar. In the interim, another 28th province of India, Jharkhand was cut out of the Southern piece of Bihar on November 15, 2000. Presently the weight was high on it.
