Duration: One year.

Eligibility for admission: Candidate must have passed M.Tech /M.Ed/ M.A./M.Sc./M.Com/M.B.A. with a minimum of 50% marks in the subject in which he/she intends to pursue the course of this University or any other University/Institute recognized as equivalent by this University.

Admission Requirements

• University shall advertise for admission at least twenty (20) days ahead from the date of admission through the newspaper/ University website. 
• Candidate must have cleared  ICAR/ICSSR/NET/SLET/GATE tests or equivalents who are seeking admission to the M.Phil program of the University. 
• Other candidates who have not cleared these exams must have cleared the Dibrugarh University Research Admission Test (DURAT).
• Reserved categories candidates may get relaxation up to 5% marks.
• Weightage for selection of candidates will be 70% from the DURAT score and 30% from the Viva-voce/ Interview.

Eligibility for admission

• Candidate must have passed Master’s Degree with a minimum of 55% marks in which he/she intends to pursue the course of this University or any other University/Institute recognized as equivalent by this University.
• Candidate has to clear the Dibrugarh University Research Admission Test (DURAT) who are seeking admission to the Doctoral program of the University. The DURAT is to be conducted annually by the University.
• The candidates are exempted from appearing the DURAT who have qualified the UGCCSIR NET (including JRF)/SLET/UGC-NET (including JRF)/GATE/teacher fellowship holder or have passed M.Phil program.
• For getting the selection for admission candidates have to appear a viva-voce/ interview. 
• A candidate may also be considered for admission to the Ph.D. program who have B.E./B.Tech Degree with a valid JRF-GATE score.
• The applicants shall have to take admission for a Six-Month Course Work who are eligible.
• M. Phil degree holders are exempted from the course work.

Registration

• Within one year from the date of declaration of the result of the Course Work, a candidate shall submit a synopsis of the proposed research work in triplicate to the Doctoral Committee after successful completion of the course work.
• The Doctoral Committee shall suggest for modification if any and scrutinize the research proposal of the candidate.

Dibrugarh University Research Admission Test (DURAT) 2026

• DURAT shall be conducted DURAT Board assisted by the Office of the Controller of Examinations.
• Generally in the month of July DURAT would be conducted annually.
• Dibrugarh University Research Admission Test shall be conducted for admission to the M.Phil and Ph.D. programs of Dibrugarh University.
• DURAT comprises of two parts and be conducted in a single paper.
• Part 1(Group A): 50% on Research Methodology/ Research Aptitude 
• Part 2(Group B): 50% from Core Course Components of the subject concerned
• The duration of the examination shall be of two and a half hours.
• The paper shall carry 100 marks.
• Type Objective Multiple Choice: 50% from Group A and 50% from Group B. Negative marking of 25%.
• Descriptive Type= 50% from Group A and 50% from Group B.

D.Litt/D.Sc.

• The degree of D.Litt/D.Sc. of Dibrugarh University is awarded on the basis of a thesis or a published research work, illustrating substantial to a candidate adjudged to have distinguished himself/ herself as an authority in the field of his/her study.
• Eligibility: Candidate who want to take admission in D.Litt/D.Sc. must have a Ph.D. degree in Dibrugarh University or an equivalent Degree not before three years after obtaining a Ph.D.
• Admission Procedure: A candidate shall apply on prescribed form after payment of a prescribed fee obtainable from the Office of the Deputy Registrar.
