CBSE Board Exams 2026: Toppers List Not To Be Released; Know How Grading System Works?

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided not to release the toppers\' list for the Class 10 and Class 12 Board Exams 2025, continuing its policy from previous years. This move aims to reduce unnecessary competition and stress among students.

Grading System for CBSE Board Exams 2025

CBSE follows a 9-point grading system for Class 10 and Class 12 results. Here’s how it works:

Marks Range & Grades

Percentage RangeGradeRemarks
91–100%A1Outstanding
81–90%A2Excellent
71–80%B1Very Good
61–70%B2Good
51–60%C1Above Average
41–50%C2Average
33–40%DMinimum Pass
21–32%E1Needs Improvement
0–20%E2Fail

Key Points About CBSE Grading System

  1. No Overall Division/Percentage Disclosure: CBSE does not declare divisions (1st, 2nd, 3rd) or exact percentages to reduce pressure.

  2. CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average): Used in Class 10, calculated based on a 10-point scale (e.g., A1 = 10, A2 = 9, etc.).

  3. Passing Criteria: Students need at least 33% marks in each subject (theory + practical/internal assessment combined).

  4. Compartment Exams: If a student fails in 1-2 subjects, they get a chance to appear for compartment exams (usually held in July).

Why No Toppers’ List?

  • To discourage unhealthy competition.

  • Reduce stress and mental pressure on students.

  • Promote a more holistic evaluation system.
