B.Sc. or Bachelor of Science is an undergraduate degree course which is one of the most popular among the science students after 12th class. It is a graduate degree course in Science that forms the basis of science and comprises of subjects like biology, zoology, physics, chemistry, and mathematics.

Duration

For B.Sc program duration is 3 years, which is divided into 6 semesters which can be pursued either as a Part-Time Graduate Course or Full-Time  Graduate Course.

Eligibility For BSc program

Candidates who want to join this course should have 10+2 from a recognized board with 55 percent marks from science stream. Minimum age to join this course is 18 years in some colleges. Candidate must have science subjects in intermediate otherwise no admission will be given to the candidate.

Fee Offered for BSc

In government-funded institutes approximate tuition fee of B.Sc is 15,000 INR to 25, 000 INR for three years and in private institutes, it is more according to the stream you choose.

BSc Honours vs. BSc General

BSc Honours and BSc General are two types of BSc degrees awarded to students. There are some basic differences that lie between the two however both are academic degrees awarded to students at an undergraduate level. 

  • BSc Honours course focuses usually on one major subject area and it is a more standardized degree. It is designed to develop research, advanced theoretical and practical skills among students. 
  • BSc General course usually focuses on all major subjects of Science. It is designed to provide foundation knowledge of Science subject to the student.

Admission in B.Sc

In the months of May and June every year the application forms for the admission are made available. Some universities gave admission on the base of merit obtained in 10+2 exams. Some institutes also organize Entrance Exam for admission into B.Sc program. 40% weight age is given to marks scored in the 10+2 eams and 60% weight age is given to marks scored in the entrance exam for admission in B.Sc program.
