Mt. Carmel College of Teacher Education for Women, built up in 1953 is the First Aided Women's Training College in Kerala. It is controlled by the Institute of the Carmelite Sisters of St. Teresa, Ernakulam and is subsidiary to the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam. The endorsed quality of understudies of the school is 120. The organization that had been licensed by NAAC in 2000 was reaccredited with 'A' Grade in 2008.
Mount Carmel College of Teacher Education for Women, in the past known as Mount Carmel Training College has a place with the C.S.S.T Institute established by Mother Teresa of St. Rose of Lima in the year 1887. Controlled by the vision that training and edification of ladies is vital for the advancement and prosperity of the general public, Mother Teresa worked with a soul of commitment and excitement to elevate ladies by beginning schools and universities for them. Being profoundly keen on advancing higher investigations and the preparation of submitted instructors for the indispensable advancement of understudies, Mother Veronica, the primary Mother General of the C.S.S.T. Foundation propelled a task for beginning an educator preparing school for ladies.
With the endorsement and backing of the then Mother General Mother Alphonsus, Mount Carmel Training College appeared on the Ist of June 1953. In 2006, it was raised to the status of a P.G. focus with 25 understudies experiencing the M.Ed program. From 2011 onwards the admission of M.Ed understudies has been raised to 35. The establishment praised its Diamond Jubilee in August 2013.
